What we are doing

For much more up to date information go to our What's New Section.
(I must find a better way of sorting this out.)

In 2012 here is a run down of what we've been up to:

In April we had another successful coffee morning and bring and buy sale.

In June we organised a collection for Kids Can Achieve (Harrow Weald), the Templeton Centre in Northwood Hills (local Alzheimer's Society branch) and Frustrated Communication's other locally supported organisations. A big thank you to all the collectors (many of whom were members or relatives of members of the Rotary Club of Pinner) and shoppers at Sainsbury's in Pinner for all your help and support.

In July we held a garden party to meet up with and catch up with a few friends from the past - they were generous too.

In August we hosted a cream tea afternoon and further expanded our list of supporters for the work we do.

In early September we took delivery of our Limited Edition Pinner 2013 Calendar. We were very pleased, and I mean very pleased, with the calendar - it has 12 detachable postcards - photos of Pinner and on the reverse of each month a seasonal recipe from local celebrity Chef Patron, Terry Farr at Friends Restaurant in Pinner. We were helped in no small part by local print and design company WD&P Ltd. All the profits we make from the sale of these calendars will go to support our work with local charities and good causes - helping local people. Now all we have to do is sell them! See the 2013 CALENDAR in this Fundraising section of our website. (Or go to www.charity-calendar.org.uk.) We do remain a National Charity but these efforts are to support our local work.

These calendars are on sale at many, very supportive, local, Pinner, retailers.

In September we attended our first public event - the Pinner Village Show - organised by the Rotary Club of Pinner. Whilst we were a little disappointed with the amount of money we raised at the show, the show itself was fantastic, the weather was truly summery and the number or stalls and visitors broke all records. A truly great day! Well done to all those at the Rotary Club who organised and supported the Show.

In October we set up a display in Pinner Library to inform people about what we do and display and promote our local calendar.

We've had another collection and cheque from "Phil" the Bag of old clothes and leather goods for recycling.

Following the success in October 2011 of our appearance in the Waitose Community Matters Scheme in their Harrow Weald Store we featured in Brent Cross in April and in South Harrow in August. Many, many thanks to Waitrose and to their customers for their support.

The July edition of the Pinner Association magazine "the Villager" carried an article on the background to Frustrated Communication and we had contact from a couple of people interested in what we are doing and offering help.

And a perspective on earlier years:

Whilst the charity's founders have donated the majority of our distributable funds, kind and generous supporters have donated further funds. More recently we have started to organise events to raise funds for the worthy causes we support.

Since 2007 we have sold great value packs of Christmas Cards to raise money for Frustrated Communication.

If you send personalised or business Christmas Cards why not support us at the same time? Here is a flavour of the cards you could send.

Personalised Charity Christmas Cards from DASH UK

For a better view of what's available please download this Christmas Card Catalogue (a pdf file) and send it off to DASH UK. All the details are on the pdf download. We will receive 50 pence for each card you buy.

In 2010 we sold CDs of photos taken by our Trustee, David Bays, whilst on a Harrow U3A holiday to Istanbul.

In 2011 we have raised money through:

Very successful and most enjoyable Coffee Mornings with Bring and Buy Tables in March and November.

We hosted a couple of Summer Garden Parties with the added attraction of a expertly guided tour round Pinner's historic High Street.

We had a very successful collection outside our local Sainsbury's Supermarket in July. We raised money for Kids Can Achieve and the Templeton Alzheimer's Support Centre and Frustrated Communication's local funds. We were helped by friends, supporters of the charities and members of David's Rotary Club. A big, big thank you to all those who took part.

Following a request from, Pam, one of our enthusiastic supporters Waitrose branch in Harrow Weald have chosen Frustrated Communication as one of its three charities in October under its Community Matters scheme. As one of three charities sharing £1,000 we were stunned and incredibly grateful to both the support of the shoppers and to Waitrose to be awarded £510 out of the total of £1,000.

The sale of colourful floral photos, taken by David and helped in the sale process by Chef Patron, Terry Farr of Friends Restaurant in Pinner High Street and by staff at Brian Davies & Co, Solicitors.

We also offer collection boxes for loose change
(our little piggy boxes)

Tom from 'Phil' the Bag

'Phil' the Bag's cheerful driver, Tom, picked up our first batch of bags in October 2011.

We have had bags of interest in 'Phil' the Bag -
our own collection of unwanted clothes, material and shoes for which we receive payment from the recycling firm behind 'Phil' the Bag.
